The Palais Garnier
The Palais Garnier is practically a opera-house which is situated on the Place de l’Opéra from Paris, the capital of France. The Palais Ga
rnier has also a second and a third name, the Paris Opéra and Opéra Garnier.
Also designed by Charles Garnier, the building is known as one of the architectural masterpieces of the Neo-Baroque style. It was also taken in front of the Opera Garnier construction. It is not as easy as tourists think if they want to photograph the interior of the Palais Garnier building.
The Palais Garnier is used for concerts and other performances since it was opened, in 1874 and inaugurated in one year later, in 1875. On the southeastern part of the Palais Garnier you will find the Louvre museum.
Seating 2,130 people, the Paris Opéra or the Opéra Garnier is an architectural treasure for the classical opera of the city and several ballet scenes. On the the inside there is a big hall with a grand staircase.There are even several rehearsal rooms, a library and a museum which hosts many famous exhibits. It is believed to have one of the largest hall from all over the world.
In the 20th century, in 1964, Marc Chagall had decided to paint the ceiling an he got inspired by some of the most famous operas.
