Prater

Prater or Wiener Prater is a large public park in Vienna. The park is arranged on an old hunting ground open to the public by the Austrian Emperor Joseph II. Prater is a giant amusement park, it covers an area of 6 km2. Prater name probably comes from “pratum” or “PRADO”.
Prater is first mentioned in 1162 when the Emperor Frederic I gave to a noble Konrad the land. Prater was the time of Maximilian II, as a hunting ground used by the kingdom of Austria. The year 1766 has been transformed into a recreational park, the Emperor Joseph II.
Over time, the park has been open restaurants and bars, and the highest was at Basilio’s Calafate, a Chinese magician who has opened a restaurant with some gambling. But the big change was in 1895, when has inaugurated the big wheel called Riesenrad. Over time have occurred and other attractions such as Ponny-Caroussel, Turbo Booster, Liliputbahn, Ringelspiel X3, Minidrom X2.
