Notre Dame de Paris

A Gothic cathedral from Paris, the capital of France is known to be the Notre Dame de Paris. This cathedral is situated on the eastern part of the Île de la Cité.

In English, Notre Dame means “Our Lady” and it is one of the finest Catholic cahtedral of France. Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, one of the most famous architects of France has prevented and avoided the cathdral from desctruction.

The building has thinner walls, but several issues had appeared when the walls pushed outward. But many measures were taken by the architects of the cathedral, building supports around the outside walls and adding more missing.

Even if in the French Revolution’s time, in 1790 the cathedral suffered several damages on its image,  until the 19th century a project of a large restoration was finished.

In the 19th century, the Notre Dame cathedral was almost completely rebuilt. Only in 1992 everything was completed finally.

At the Notre Dame there are even 5 bells. The first is Emmanuel, which is situated in the South Tower, and it has around 13 tonnes.The other 4 bells are moving like a swing. They are used only for festivals and different services.
