The Retiro Park is situated in the center of Madrid city. The park was constructe
d in 1632 by King Felipe IV . The park’s name comes from spanish meaning “retreat” because Spain was a country where people were hiding. It is also a part of the Buen Retiro Palace which was destroyed with the gardens during the Spanish War when french people came here.
Besides the gardens, whose ruins remained even today, tourists can see spectacular statues from which we could mention the Fallen Angel made by Ricardo Bellver. Once you passed through the main entrance you have the chance to see this unique fountain or statue. Nowadays the park has been renovated with exotic magnolias imported from the south of United States of America.
When you want to visit something pleasant and very enjoyable come here where your family will have fun and will see beautiful gardens as the Rose Garden, one of the most recognized.
Even if in Madrid there are different types of parks, Retiro Park is the one. With natural resources, statues and monuments, the park has an area around 140 hectares.
Being a very popular destination for travellers, the park shelters the plant’s life. Retiro Park is a part of the city’s greatest attractions because it is the place where everyone want to come.
